I've gathered a few of my favorite resources to help you build confidence and continue learning between lessons.

For beginners, The Mahjong Line offers helpful videos covering the basics, including setting up the game and dealing. For a more comprehensive explanation of the rules, I highly recommend Modern Mahjong's Visual Companion Guide, one of the best visual references for American Mahjong.

One of the best ways to improve is by practicing online. I Love Mahj offers online games against bots and live players. You can enjoy an extended free trial using my affiliate link or code MAHJAHOLIC. I recommend using the Just for Fun game in the Launchpad and turning on Practice Mode for hand suggestions, but challenge yourself to work through the hand before asking for help. Most importantly, play every game to the end. Even if your hand doesn't come together, you'll learn something from every game.

Be sure to explore the Exercise Room on I Love Mahj for Charleston practice, defensive play, and exposure strategy. These exercises are an excellent way to reinforce what you've learned in your lessons.

When purchasing your National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) Card, I recommend the large size for easier reading. If you purchase from another retailer, be sure you're buying the official NMJL card, as there are counterfeit versions available online. Also, make sure you're purchasing American Mahjong tiles, as other Mahjong styles are not compatible with NMJL play.
