How much do Mahjong lessons cost?

How long does it take to learn American Mahjong?
I don’t follow a traditional Mahjong 101/102 format, as each group learns a little differently. Most groups are ready to play on their own or practice online after the first lesson, which helps them identify where they may want additional support. Some choose to schedule a second lesson once they’ve had time to practice, while others continue progressing with supplemental resources and do not require another formal lesson.
What is the best way to learn Mahjong?
The fastest way to learn American Mahjong is through hands on instruction using the current National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card. Lessons focus on developing the essential skills of pattern recognition and learning how to read the card, creating a strong foundation for confident play. With an experienced instructor at your table throughout the lesson, you'll receive real time guidance on the Charleston, hand selection, strategy, defensive play, and the official NMJL rules as each situation arises. To reinforce what you've learned between lessons, I also recommend practicing online with I Love Mahj, where you can play against bots or live players anytime.
Do I need my own Mahjong set?
No. Mahjaholic can provide professional Mahjong tiles, racks, mats, and NMJL cards for your lesson. If you’re purchasing your own set, recommendations are available.
What kind of Mahjong do you teach?
Mahjaholic teaches American Mahjong using the official National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) rules and annual card.
